ADOLESCENCE

ADOLESCENCE
Adolescence describes the teenage years between 13 and 19 and can be considered the transitional stage from childhood to adulthood. However, the physical and psychological changes that occur in adolescence can start earlier, during the preteen or "tween" years (ages 9-12). Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can bring up issues of independence and self-identity. Sometimes adolescents may be experimenting with drugs and alcohol or sexuality. During this time, peer groups and external appearance tend to increase in importance.
In the same definition adolescence is the period between puberty and adulthood. if we study about adolescence, we must now about the signs of puberty. because adolescence can not be separated with puberty.
During puberty, endocrine glands produce hormones that cause body changes and the development of secondary sex characteristics.
  • In girls, the ovaries begin to increase production of estrogen and other female hormones.
  • In boys, the testicles increase production of testosterone.
So in my opinion about adlescence is the time between the beginning of sexual maturation (puberty) and adulthood. It is a time of psychological maturation, which a person becomes "adult-like" in behavior.
Adolescence is considered to be the period between ages 13 and 19. The adolescent experiences not only physical growth and change, but also emotional, psychological, social, and mental change and growth.
